A Conversation with Tinatin Japaridze

Posted in News Story

On Tuesday, April 12, please join us for a conversation with Tinatin Japaridze, author of Stalin’s Millennials: Nostalgia, Trauma, and Nationalism (new window), a “fascinating, original, and shrewd analysis of the different identities of Stalin, examining how—in Georgia, Russia, and the West—he remains a titanic and brooding presence in the political world seventy years after his death” (Simon Sebag Montefiore, author of Stalin: The Court of the Red Tsar). Japaridze will discuss Stalin’s ongoing legacy, the continuing effects of his traumatic and transformational rule, and the conflicting memories, politics, and ideologies that have led to recent and deeply concerning trends in “re-Stalinization.”
Tinatin Japaridze is a scholar and journalist who has studied at the Harriman Institute of Columbia University
