George Mihaychuk

Prof. Mihaychuk has been at Georgetown University since 1989. He teaches from first- to third-level Russian language courses and tutorial classes in Ukrainian.

In addition to teaching languages, he offers a range of courses on Russian literature, from general surveys, such as Nineteenth-Century Russian Literature (second half), to upper level courses on Chekhov, Russian Literary Modernism, and Literature of the Other Europe.

His research interests include issues in late-nineteenth (19th)century Russian literature, a discourse or functional approach to narration, rhetoric, Ukrainian literature (from the 1800s to 1930s), and translation. He is currently working on a study of the pursuit of high culture in Ukrainian literature of the 19th-century and has recently prepared a volume of translated plays of Volodymyr Vynnychenko and has translated other playwrights.
